I&BEbook.Amazon

Iron & Bone (Book #3 Lock & Key Series)
Designed by Najla Qamber Designs
Release Date: December 29, 2015

Synopsis
A knife that cut too deep,
a slash that still burns,
failures piled high and flammable.
I held my losses at bay with knives, with guns, my hands,
my bike, my brothers,
my iron will.
But not my heart.
No, my heart was the flame
that would light the match,
ignite the blaze.
I am the enforcer
The killer when called upon,
the ruthless hound on demand,
the one who cleans the mess left behind.
The protector.
I can make you bleed,
Smash you to pieces.
But she smashed all my excuses,
and I shattered hers.
For a split second she was mine,
but I will always be hers.
Some things,
really beautiful things,
you can’t hold onto forever.

About the Author
Cat Porter was born and raised in New York City, but also spent a few years in Europe and Texas along the way. As an introverted, only child, she had very big, but very secret dreams for herself. She graduated from Vassar College, was a struggling actress, an art gallery girl, special events planner, freelance writer, restaurant hostess and had all sorts of other crazy jobs all hours of the day and night to help make her dreams come true. She has two children’s books traditionally published under her maiden name. She now lives in Athens, Greece with her husband and three children, and freaks out regularly and still daydreams way too much. She is addicted to the History Channel, her iPad, her husband’s homemade red wine, really dark chocolate, and her Nespresso coffee machine. Writing keeps her somewhat sane, extremely happy, and a productive member of society.

REVIEW

Iron & Bone (Lock & Key, #3)

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Neither Boner nor Jill are strangers to the brutality of life. This is the story of how they found the beauty of it as well.

We learned of the lows in Jill's life in the other books. I had no idea the past Boner left behind before even joining the club. It makes me love him more to see the guy he's turned out to be. These two deserve for some good times to come their way. Of course things have to be bumpy on that path. They both have others determined to make it a hard one for them, but they also have the love of the people they've chosen as family.

I love the way this author writes her characters, especially the males. They're tough as nails, but they have so much heart. They're smart and have a settled spirit. The storyline has a poetry about it without being flowery. It's the hard biker life without just being straight up vulgar the way a book can be.

If you loved the others, you should love this one as well. I did, and I can't wait for more.

DESPERATE FOR THE TRUTH. OBSESSED BY DESIRE...

Emily Wayborn is finally her own woman.

After a string of shameful relationships and reckless partying with her best friend Amber, she's now a successful voiceover actress, her wild past and everyone in it firmly behind her. Until she receives a cryptic voicemail from her former friend that sends her spiraling into the darkness she thought she had outrun. One thing is clear from the message, Amber is in trouble.

Determined to track down her friend, Emily follows a chain of clues that leads her to Reeve Sallis, a gorgeous and equally dangerous hotelier known for his power games and shady dealings. Now, in order to find Amber, Emily must return to her playgirl ways to uncover his secrets and track down her friend. But as she becomes more entangled with him, she finds she's drawn to Reeve and his depravity despite her growing conviction that he may be the one responsible for Amber' s disappearance.

“The harrowing scene when Reeve and Emily tentatively reveal what they each know about Amber brings a surprising moment of tenderness between the two damaged characters—and the cliffhanger ending sets up an even greater conflict for Book 2. Paige is unflinching in her depiction of a complicated relationship, and the results are explosive.” —Kirkus Reviews

“The dynamic between Reeve and Emily is interesting because their connection is so intimate despite the circumstances of their arrangement. It’s a game of cat-and-mouse that’s carnal, erotic and emotionally raw. Be prepared for a cliffhanger that will leave you desperate for more.” —RT Book Reviews

Excerpt
The room began to close in around me, blanketing me with acute heaviness. I drained my champagne in one swallow then set it on a waiter’s tray as I pushed through the crowd and out to the overflow area that had been set up in the parking lot. Once the chill night breeze hit me, I gasped in a deep breath, swallowing the air in long gulps, as though I’d been underwater and had finally reached the surface.
With Amber, I’d been a glorified hooker. In Hollywood, wasn’t I pretty much the same thing? I’d simply left one bed to move to another. I chuckled at the paradox. It deserved a laugh, at least.
Footsteps sounded behind me, and I stifled the last bit of humor threatening to escape. Without looking over my shoulder, I felt the air change. The hair at the back of my neck bristled and the sting of electricity huddled around me.
I turned, somehow knowing what I’d find—who I’d find.
He leaned against the concrete doorframe watching me with eyes that pinned me in my place. He was captivating and magnificent, his tux fitting him better than clothing had the right to fit a person, better than any one of the pretty men that filled the room beyond him. Those men, my peers, they were a sea of beautiful—calm and serene. Reeve was the ocean, dark and commanding and turbulent. They moved in gentle waves. Reeve stood still and set the world crashing around him.
That easily, the breath I’d just managed to get under control was knocked from my lungs.
He spoke before I could regain my composure. “What a coincidence that you’d be at the same event that I’m at.”
The boldness of his accusation shocked me into response. “I’m not following you, if that’s what you’re insinuating.” My pulse fluttered in fear, in excitement. In irritation. I didn’t like the way he agitated me. Maybe I’d deserved it at his resort, but this? This was my turf.
With a surprising display of fierceness, I locked my eyes to his. “I’m the one who belongs at this event. Not you.”
He laughed and the sound of it fueled my indignation. It also sent heat rushing up my thighs, heat that turned my rage inward as well as out.
Hands in his pockets, Reeve stepped toward me. “Calm down, Emily. I was only teasing. Of course you aren’t here because of me. Perhaps, I’m here because of you.” He paused long enough for panic to jolt through me with reminders of the ominous words he’d delivered to me the last time we’d seen each other. “Perhaps, this time I’m the one who’s examining.”
My anger stepped up another notch, overwhelming my unease. “Examining me? Like, why—to scare me? To see if I’m as fun to mess with when you’re outside the home field? How dare you? Come here, into my world and prod at me just because you feel like it. Proceed to make it your playground. How dare you?”
His lip curved into a chiding smile. “Now you know how I felt.”
I refused to acknowledge my humiliation, though the flush that swept down my neck more than likely gave it away. “Thank you for the lesson, Mr. Sallis,” I said, my voice surprisingly steady. “I assure you that I have more than gotten the point. You won’t be having to give me any further demonstrations.” I started toward the venue doors, praying I could manage the walk. High heels and weak knees did not make for a good combination.
I circled widely around him, wanting to keep as much distance between us as possible. But I could still feel the warmth pulsating off him like the driving beat of a dance club. It trembled through me, coming up from the ground, shaking me, gripping me. I fought through it, forced myself past him.
“Emily.” His address caught me mid-stride. Five more feet and I’d be back in the Expo. Just a few more steps…
I couldn’t help myself—I stayed. I didn’t turn toward him, though. That was my single act of restraint.
“What I did to you at the spa—”His voice was silk and stubble all at once. The texture of the sound, as much as the mention of the spa, was bait on a hook. I practically leaned into his next words. “It wasn’t very nice.”
I spun toward him. “You think?”
“I like my privacy. I was mad.” It wasn’t an explanation so much as it was a reminder. You provoked me, he was saying. You deserved it.
“So you made me think you wanted to kill me?” Admittedly, I had earned his admonishment. I hadn’t earned a death threat.
“Eh. I never said I wanted—”
I cut him off with a point of my finger. “You did. In every way you could without the specific words.”
He opened his mouth as if to defend himself further. Then his expression changed, his features darkened, his eyes gleamed. “Did it scare you?”
“What do you think?” A shiver ran down my spine. He knew he’d scared me. It had been his intent to rile me up, make me afraid. What I hadn’t realized was how much he liked that he had.

REVIEW

First Touch (First and Last, #1)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

While reading this book, I was unable to function with real life. It's so mysterious and consuming, I'm having trouble not feeling lost without it even now.

The cast is painted in a real light, the good and bad, like real people, but nothing about them is average. I love the chemistry between Emily and Reeve. They're both a mixture of strong, weak, dependent, self-reliant, vulnerable, guarded and many other juxtapositions. I've read sexy and interesting characters and scenes before, but these have that certain something, a special oomph. Each encounter gave me tingles, and I was constantly speculating what kind of people they were. Are they depraved or sweet inside? What terrible things have they done or been through in the past? What are they capable of doing? I was in a continual state of what's next. Then, a clue from the past would enter in the form of a flashback, and I would get even more wrapped up. Each page left me craving and all in a tizzy. I simply couldn't get enough, and now that's it's over, I'm having DTs for the next book.

I don't want to give many actual details of the story away. I loved not really knowing who was who and what was what. I had no clue how the novel would end, and even after reading it, I have no clue how the series will end.

UNTOUCHABLE DARKNESS by Rachel Van Dyken Review

To love a Dark One is to invite death...

It is wrong to love her.

It is worse to want her.

It is sin to consume her.

I desire all three.

I've been given thirty days to prove my love to another immortal--as a human. Cursed to use nothing but the side of myself I've always despised to win her affection. I am Cassius, the King of the immortals, A Dark One.

And today I tasted fear for the first time.

How can I win her when my human emotions over take every ounce of logic I possess?

A darkness is brewing.
One I cannot stop as a human.
One that Stephanie, my loves visions, have shown, will be my end.
Thirty days ago I was King of the immortals.
Today I know fear.
Today I know how I will die.
By her hand.
The woman I love.

REVIEW

Untouchable Darkness (The Dark Ones Saga, #2)

Many of the characters have undergone huge changes in this book compared with how they were in the last. Decisions of who is good or bad, strong or weak are constantly adjusting in this series.

Untouchable Darkness is the story of Cassius and Stephanie. The reader follows both on their given paths with flashbacks from the long existence of Cassius and scenes of the battle inside Stephanie's mind. These pieces eventually tie together.

This author has a special gift of combining groups of people and making them family. The pain, humor and love are easy to feel, and I have fallen for each guy.

So much detail was given in the mythology of this universe. I'm eager to see where it heads next. Also, I can't wait to see the other guys with their mates.

Careened: Winter Solstice in Madierus by Bey Deckard Review

Baal's Heart short, following the events in Fated: Blood and Redemption

Plagued by terrible dreams, Jon begins to distance himself from Baltsaros and Tom. Perhaps a little holiday cheer is just the thing to help the three of them find common ground again.

AUTHOR NOTE

I had a dream almost two months ago where Jon, Tom, and Baltsaros were in a Christmas special together... something like one of those Hallmark holiday movies. It was ridiculous... there was even a laugh track, if I recall.

So I ended up writing a story very loosely based on that dream... Very loosely.

If you're not into holiday stories, this one's not necessary to make sense of the next chapter in Baal's Heart (hopefully Summer 2016). It's just a bit of silly holiday shenanigans to put some smiles on the faces of my pirates, and hopefully, the fans of the books.

Careened: Winter Solstice in Madierus (Baal's Heart, #3.5)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this series, and I've missed these men tremendously. For us fans, this novella is the perfect Christmas present.

Just when I think I've seen all the sides the trio has to offer, they show me more. Oh, Tom. I always love Tom. He's as amazing as ever. Jon had me worried for awhile. I've always understood Jon more and loved Tom more. Baltsaros has always scared me a bit. I never quite know what to expect from him. He totally surprised me again. All three men gave me heart pains, but the Captain actually made my eyes start stinging.

The guys and their relationship are a beauty to behold. Careened is a total treat of love and play. I definitely recommend it.
