This is the first book in a series. There are several characters, but the main love interest of the story are Simon and Mitch.
Simon is an Omega wolf. Omegas are usually female. Shifters can scent a fellow shifter's position in the pack. Because of this, Simon was outed as a gay Omega around puberty and kicked from his pack. Mitch is an non-traditional Alpha. Most alphas lead packs, but he prefers to just help his brother when needed and keep to himself when not. He's the scary muscle behind the scenes.
Simon has had a hard life of learning and surviving on the go. Omegas are genetically submissive, but he has had to go against his natural inclinations in order to escape abuse from those who consider him abnormal. Alphas often don't have true mates because their purpose is to protect the pack. For the ones that do find their mates, it is usually an omega (kind of an opposite ends of pole, you complete me deal). Because Mitch is a gay alpha, he has little prospect of finding his true mate. If he did happen to have one, he would know the shifter as soon as he scented him.
"Males can be Omegas," Simon resentfully answered the inevitable question. "It doesn't make us weak.""Not weak." Bottomless black eyes peered at him as the Alpha shocked him to his core by parting his lips and licking his palm. "Mine."
Because of the hard life Simon has led and the reserved life Mitch has led, they have some issues to work through. I enjoyed working through those issues with them.
"You can trust me with that part of you, pup. You're an Omega. It's your nature to submit to a more powerful wolf, but submission isn't weakness just like power isn't corruption. I will never exploit your vulnerability. You're safe with me."
I liked this story. I found it entertaining, sweet and sexy. I plan to continue with the series.
